Earthrise Energy Awards $10,000 RISE Grant to Camp New Hope
Earthrise Energy today awarded a $10,000 RISE Grant to Camp New Hope, a Neoga nonprofit organization that provides year-round recreation experiences for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. The financial support allows Camp New Hope to offer additional scholarships to its annual Summer Camp Program and Respite Weekends, designed to provide a fun camping experience throughout the year and give families a break from caregiving responsibilities.
“We thank Earthrise for their continued support of our campers and advancing our mission to provide programs that bring fun, companionship, and activity to people with disabilities,” said Camp New Hope Executive Director Kathy Beals. “This funding will help many more campers and families in central Illinois join in the camping fun.”
Founded to accelerate the clean energy transition, Earthrise Energy owns and operates five natural gas peaker plants in Illinois, including the Shelby County Energy Center in Neoga. The company established its RISE Grant program to bolster nonprofit and local government organizations in supporting excellence in education, protecting the environment, and supporting the communities where Earthrise operates and is developing renewable energy projects.
“We are happy to support Camp New Hope as it brings the joy of nature to more central Illinois residents with developmental and physical disabilities,” said Earthrise Energy’s Project Developer Nicole Vaughn.
This marks the second consecutive year that Earthrise Energy has awarded Camp New Hope a RISE Grant.
“We are pleased to provide a RISE Grant to Camp New Hope. It’s a wonderful organization that continues to have a profound impact on the lives of community members and nurtures the well-being of individuals navigating challenging circumstances,” added Jonathan Pike, Earthrise Energy’s Vice President of Development.
Camp New Hope lies on 41 rolling acres on the shores of Lake Mattoon. Year after year, campers enjoy the excitement of fishing and pontoon boat rides on the lake, train rides around trails, swimming in a pool, playing on the playground and mini golf course, games, crafts, and more.
Available for people ages 8 to 80, Camp New Hope’s summer camp programs are day and overnight, week-long experiences held in June and July. Respite Weekends are held throughout the year. To learn more about Camp New Hope and how to donate to support a camper, go to https://campnewhopeillinois.org.
