Vera Carley

Vera Carley brings to her role at Earthrise more than fifteen years of corporate communications experience. Before joining Earthrise, she worked as Manager of Communications at GridLiance, an electric transmission start-up company with assets in the California Independent System Operator, Midcontinent Independent System Operator, and Southwest Power Pool regions. In 2021, NextEra Energy Transmission acquired GridLiance from affiliates of Blackstone Energy Partners. Previously, she served as Assistant Vice President of External Communications and Director of Media Relations and Financial Communications at Assurant, a Fortune 500 specialty insurance provider. There she was responsible for day-to-day media relations activities at the parent-company level. Earlier in her career, Vera oversaw media relations, branding, and advertising as Director of Media Relations and Corporate Communications at Covanta Energy, a waste-to-energy company with facilities across the country. Prior to that role, she served as Director of Communications for the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association (now CRE Finance Council) and was responsible for managing advertising, membership, and communications for the trade organization. Vera began her career as a reporter at a local newspaper in New Jersey.

Vera earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and journalism from Rutgers College and a Master of Science in Strategic Communications from Columbia University.
