Reporting to the VP of Project Delivery, the Senior Construction Manager will play a critical role in executing the Company’s renewable energy projects. This is both a tactical and strategic position, requiring the agility to move smoothly between activities, and will draw on strong project and time management skills.  The Senior Construction Manager will work closely with various functions across the company and should have a demonstrated knowledge of commercial practices, legal principles, project controls, and negotiation skills. Given the company’s early stage, the Senior Construction Manager’s responsibilities will evolve through the stages of the company’s growth.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction management for the growth program, including day-to-day communications with the EPC contractor and Owners CM site representatives on design reviews, safety, site management, project controls, QA/QC, commissioning, and startup to ensuring projects will be completed safely, on time, in compliance with the contracts, and on budget. Specific activities include but are not limited to:
    • Perform analysis and review of change orders for general management approval
    • Provide reports and project related data for project controls and other reporting
    • Ensure systematic coordination with EPC contractor for OFE deliveries like modules, breakers and GSUs
  • Work with the Engineering, Procurement and PMO Teams on the preparation of competitive EPC request for Proposals and negotiation of EPC Contracts addressing project specific construction and technical drivers.
  • Work with the Procurement, Development, Operations, and Finance teams in the development of technical, construction, and cost-effective solutions at different project stages in response to various offtake tenders providing necessary inputs and assumptions.
  • Support the facility engineering design processes, engineering service agreements, and development of standards and functional technical specifications for Earthrise’s growth projects.
  • Monitor and audit project controls and schedule performance of ongoing projects.
  • Attend meetings in-person with general contractor, including kickoffs and monthly progress meetings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Illinois-based location strongly preferred; otherwise, travel required to IL construction sites as needed (75%)
  • 7-10 years of experience in engineering, procurement, and power plant construction, preferably with recent solar and/or wind recent experience; and at least 5 years of that in a leadership capacity
  • Engineering degree from an accredited university; PMP certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage a safe work environment for Earthrise and contractor personnel.
  • Knowledgeable with power plant engineering design standards and practices, inspections, and QA/QC.
  • Thorough knowledge of EPC contracts including technical and commercial drivers
  • Knowledgeable with tier 1 scheduling and project controls software and leading practices- ability to plan, schedule, manage, and execute all activities associated with a major construction project/program.
  • Experience managing construction contracts with the ability to control costs and forecast spend; experience with Union labor and Project Labor Agreements a plus.
  • Team player able to work across various functional groups.
  • Highly organized with efficient written, oral, computer, and reporting skills.
