Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director of Asset Management and working closely with the Engineering team, our Grid Integration & Operations Manager oversees the process of preparing our solar projects for successful commercial integration and operation in accordance with key project documents, as well as required reporting and compliance.  They will lead the coordination of activities related to grid integration, commercialization and achievement of COD on both nodes and the overall project, and across multiple project deliveries simultaneously.  As time permits, our Grid Integration and Operations Manager will also support activities related to the oversight and performance of our operational thermal and solar power assets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee RTO commercial and network model integration processes
• Oversee telecommunication, SCADA and data point management across the grid integration process
• Manage interconnection requirements with utilities and regulatory bodies, including all aspects of NERC compliance preparation, coordination, and registration
• Ensure metering and market settlement readiness
• Oversee renewable attribute registration
• Manage all aspects of commissioning coordination across project RTO, TP, EPC contractor, Energy Manager, and commercial stakeholders
• Facilitate the effective transition of EPC/Design documentation to Operations throughout the grid integration process
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with grid integration projects
• Report on project integration milestones via the Project Delivery PMO
• Develop and implement reporting processes for regulatory and lender compliance requirements, as well as compliance with all project agreements, and ensure that all such obligations are successfully administered within Asset Management or other teams
• Support the onboarding of third-party Asset Management and O&M provider for solar projects
• Assist in the development and implementation of information-sharing platforms and work management systems
• Serve as the organizational champion on achieving year 1 project performance metrics
• Support the operational work of our third-party asset managers, energy managers and fuel manager
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings, and contribute to the implementation of best practices to enhance asset management performance

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, or related field) or a related field
• 5 or more years relevant experience in power systems, grid integration, renewable energy, or project management
• Experience with control systems, telecom and security
• Knowledge of grid codes, interconnection and NERC standards, RTO processes and rules
• Direct experience with interconnection in RTOs required; experience in PJM or MISO a plus
• Knowledge of operational processes and best practices
• Understanding of asset performance metrics and reporting tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
