Earthrise Energy Awards $25,000 Grant to Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center
Funding Will Support Safe, Compassionate Care for Children Facing Abuse in Vermilion County
Danville, IL — Earthrise Energy has awarded a $25,000 RISE Grant to the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center (VCCAC), a nonprofit that provides compassionate care and critical support services to children and families affected by abuse. The grant will help VCCAC continue its work to create a safe, child-focused environment where young people can share their experiences, access resources, and begin the path toward healing.
“When a child is facing trauma, it’s essential that they’re met with empathy and care,” said Jonathan Munoz, Executive Director of VCCAC. “This funding from Earthrise Energy ensures that we can continue to provide that response—connecting families to services, supporting them through difficult processes, and making sure every child is heard and supported.”
VCCAC bridges the gaps between law enforcement, the Department of Children and Family Services, prosecutors, and service providers during abuse investigations. By coordinating communication across agencies and reducing the number of times a child has to retell their story, the center minimizes trauma and helps ensure a more effective, child-centered response. Children and non-offending caregivers are welcomed into a neutral, supportive setting where advocates guide them through the process and connect them to counseling, medical care, and other vital resources.
“Earthrise Energy is proud to support the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center and their mission to safeguard children and empower families,” said Talya Tavor, Director of Community Engagement at Earthrise Energy. “We believe in strengthening communities by ensuring that children are protected, supported, and given the opportunity to heal.”
Earthrise Energy’s RISE Grant program supports initiatives that strengthen communities through investments in education, mental health, and community development. Through this program, Earthrise has awarded more than $1 million in grants to organizations across Illinois.
Earthrise Energy, an independent power producer, owns and operates 1.7 gigawatts of natural gas generation capacity and is developing 1.5 gigawatts of solar projects in the Midwest, including two Gibson City projects which are now in construction.
