Project Overview

Learn about the Northwest Solar Project in Cumberland County.

Building for the future

The Northwest Solar Project is a 150 MWac solar project being built in Cumberland County. If approved, the project will generate enough clean, renewable electricity to power more than 25,500 homes in Illinois.

INVESTED FOR TOMORROW

The Northwest Solar Project will be sited on approximately 2,000 acres of land leased from private landowners and located east of Earthrise Energy’s natural gas plant, the Shelby County Energy Center. The project will leverage the existing transmission infrastructure at the natural gas plant.
