Jumaane Ponder
Jumaane Ponder brings to Earthrise more than 10 years of finance and investment experience, with more than five years focused on energy generation and distribution. Before joining the company, Jumaane worked on NextEra Energy Resources’ investment valuation team, where he led the valuation and risk analysis of more than 3 GW, $2 billion of utility-scale solar, wind, battery, and green hydrogen investments. Prior to joining NextEra, Jumaane served as a Senior Manager of Strategic Financial Planning for AES’s MCAC (Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean) business unit. In this role, he worked directly with senior leadership and country heads to optimize the capital structure and budgeting for 1.2 GW of generation assets and a 1.4 M customer distribution operation in Panama and El Salvador, respectively, representing $350 million in annual EBITDA. He also coordinated financial operations for AES’ regional shared services platform. Before that, Jumaane served as a corporate development and investment transactions specialist, where he played an active role in the investment analysis and financial structuring of AES Colon, the first LNG Terminal in Central America, and the first combined cycle gas turbine plant in Panama. Prior to joining AES, Jumaane worked in investment banking including at UBS and the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.
Jumaane earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in international accounting and economics from Howard University, an MBA from Florida International University, and an Executive Education Certificate in Private Equity and Venture Capital from Harvard Business School.
