Gerald Balboa

Gerald Balboa is Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Skylar Energy Resources LLC and a member of the Earthrise Board of Directors.

Gerald has more than 25 years of experience in the energy markets with a focus on power and natural gas. In addition to several senior trading and portfolio management roles, Gerald has started up and managed large energy trading operations.

In his current role, Gerald is responsible for business management, strategy setting, capital structuring, risk and management oversight and firm operations in his role at Skylar Energy Resources, an energy marketing and asset development organization focused on term structured transactions. He also serves as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Compliance for Skylar Capital Management LP, an affiliate of Skylar Energy Resources.

Prior to his role at Skylar Energy Resources, he served as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Power Trading at Société Générale.  Before that, he was a Co-Founder and CIO of BTU Capital, a gas trading fund. Gerald also previously served as Chief Commercial Officer for the power business of BP North America Gas and Power. Prior to BP, he built Deutsch Bank’s power trading business. He also held trading and management roles at RWE, GDF Suez Energy, and El Paso Energy. Gerald received both his Doctor of Jurisprudence and Finance degrees from the University of Houston.  He is admitted to the Texas Bar.
